OnePlus appears ready to expand its midrange smartphone lineup with the anticipated launch of the Nord 5 in India. Following the debut of the OnePlus 13 series, the company is now focused on refreshing its affordable Nord segment.
The Nord 5, teased through official channels and early leaks, is expected to replace the Nord 4 with upgrades in performance, display, and battery life — all targeted below the Rs 35,000 mark.
Borrowing its frame from the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition launched in China, the Nord 5 will retain its circular dual-camera design. It’s likely to debut in three color variants — Dry Ice, Marble Sands, and Phantom Grey — and carry an IP65 certification for dust and water resistance. The phone is expected to weigh approximately 211 grams.
Powering the device will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, which is slightly toned down compared to its Chinese counterpart but still a notable leap over the Nord 4. The phone will reportedly ship in two memory options — 8GB and 12GB LPDDR5X RAM — along with 256GB and 512GB storage configurations.
Targeting mobile gamers, OnePlus is touting high frame-rate performance on popular titles. It claims 90 FPS support for BGMI and 144 FPS for Call of Duty: Mobile, enabled by a 7,300 mm² vapor chamber cooling system.
The Nord 5 is tipped to feature a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen with full-HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. However, no LTPO adaptive refresh tech has been indicated, suggesting a more conventional display experience.
The camera setup is expected to stay close to its predecessor, with a 50MP main sensor offering optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. A telephoto sensor is missing, which may impact appeal among users seeking more versatile photography.
Although specifics have not been officially confirmed, industry reports point to a 5,200mAh battery. Fast charging will likely be enabled through 80W SuperVOOC wired support. As with previous Nord models, wireless charging is not expected.
Unofficial estimates place the starting price of the OnePlus Nord 5 at approximately Rs 30,000, with higher-end variants reaching up to Rs 36,000.
